- Audrey (my mom) told me that when she was about 3 years old (c. 1929) her family moved from Kingston, Pennsylvania to Detroit, Michigan, where her father could get work. Her mother's sisters, Regina (Jean) McCabe Standley and Mary (Mame) McCabe Birbeck, had already moved there.

- Audrey graduated from Marygrove College, Detroit, MI, in 1948, with a degree in Journalism. Before meeting Lou, she coached a year of basketball, the girls team at St. Agnes High School, Detroit, where she had played a year herself. After coaching for a season she refereed a few games the next season.

Audrey and Lou Schneider had 8 children. All were born in Providence Hospital, Detroit located at 2500 West Grand Blvd. in Detroit, Michigan.
