Frank was 20 years old when he settled in Gross Point. The records
from St. Joseph Church show that he and Margaret were married with her
father, Anton Schneider, and Anton Poesch as witnesses.
The Federal Census reports for the year 1850 shows them as residents
of New Trier Township (Gross Point was not incorporated until 1874),
and lists his occupation as farmer. The Agriculture Schedule for 1860
shows Frank owning 33 acres of improved land and 26 acres of
unimproved land, with a cash value of $1600. He also owned one horse,
4 milking cows, 2 oxen, and 3 swine. As of the year ending June 1st
he produced 60 bushels of rye, 80 of corn, 40 of oats, 300 of
potatoes, 20 of buckwheat, 250 pounds of butter, and 24 tons of hay.
In the book "History of Cook County," it states that when the decision
was made to incorporate Gross Point on March 10, 1874, Frank was on
the first board of trustees until formal elections could be held about
a month later.
