These are letters concerning Elmer's employment with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and his obtaining a job as a rodman on a land surveying team with the Michigan State Highway Commission. It is interesting that there are so many letters from the Liquor Control Commission advising Elmer that his services were no longer required; four letters between March and May of 1935, including one letter changing his work status! And finally we see a letter of recommendation from this employer.
It is my guess that the note listing Elmer's employment from 1934 and 1937 was made by himself for some reason, possibly to help him fill out an employment application.
