The 1860 Census of New Trier Twp, Cook County, Illinois lists Anton Schneider and his wife Gertrude, found at line 13 on this census form. Two children are listed, Anna, age 15 and Joseph, age 18. The Schneider Family web site lists these final two children of Anton's a being born 2/3/1844 and 3/13/1841 respectively. The Schneider's story is detailed smartly thanks to the research of Richard Schneider of Buffalo Grove, IL.

And again, instead of witting the family name as "Schneider", the census taker wrote "Snyder" as no doubt the name Schneider sounded to his ears.
