Here is the obituary published by a Detroit Michigan newspaper shortly after April 1948. The text is printed below.

   Fred A. Schneider, 79, widely known West Side business man, died early Tuesday at Signal Mountain, Tenn., where he had spent the winter months.
   Born Oct. 28, 1868, in Springwells on the site where Holy Cross Cemetery now stands, Mr. Schneider was a boyhood friend and neighbor of the late Henry Ford.
   He was one of the cofounders of the old Schneider Brick Co.
   For many years he was a proprientor of a haberdashery store. For the past 35 years he owned and operated the Stratford Theater.
   A leader in lay Catholic activities, Mr. Schneider was chairman of the drive that built Holy Redeemer Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an honory member of the Elks.
   His wife, Anne, died in 1929. A son, Gerald P., died in 1939.
   He is survived by two daughters, Gertrude and Bernaadette with whom he resided 3594 Oakman, and a grandson.
